Lab Week 10

The Total Other Race Population Percentage has an overall low percentage of other races per square mile in the 2000 census. Across the United States most of the percentage population falls in between 0 and 710 peoples per square mile. This map shows that the other race population per square mile is over all at a relatively low percentage.


The total black percentage map demonstrates that the black population too is also relatively low. This map shows a high concentration of the black population on the coast of California, near the Great Lakes, and in the New York area. However, across the entire United States, the population is the majority of the time in the ranges of 0 to 710 peoples per square mile also.



The total Asian population percentage is also relatively low across the continental United States. There are high populations in certain counties more than across a whole area like for the black population. However, these populations also fall on the outskirts and coastlines of the United States' coasts.

Based on the 2000 census, it seems that many other race populations per square mile are not common in the United States. GIS allows users have some many options and variability to show any sort of data spread. Only having used the basics, I can only imagine the incredible things one could do using GIS. I can see how useful GIS is for the public and presenting information to the masses.
